The Phone Dramas...

The first thing I wanted to do as soon as aligthed the Virgin Nigeria fligth to Johannesburg was to put calls through to Nigeria that I have arrived safely and to the Phone shop I hurried to buy one.
But a single look at the prices and a quick conversion to Naira ensured I change my mind.
I like all others on the three man contingent I am part of decided in favour of MTN and I was unlucky my fone of the the three fones into which new South African MTN SIM cards were loaded did not get connected to the MTN network.
After hearing my team mates complain about how fast their credit was gone hunted for and found a pay fone-something like a telecafe you know there were several telephone boxes linning the walls like you have computers lining the walls at most Lagos cybercafes-and the others soon joined me.
Here I discovered that the fifty rand credit was just enough to say Hello- the Yoruba way to only two of the several people I wanted to say hello and that it is cheaper to call Europe-Uk precisely-from J'burg.
On switching my phone on again I realized that my Naija SIM -glo- has got reception yeah i got Cell C and huriedly inquired of the manager of the airport tele cafe if this meant good news.
In no time i was racing for the post office where I got a five rand cell c...lo and behold i was still extremely hopefull after trying several times to load unsuccessfully. And it was with hope and high expectation that i handed over the my phone tomy manager friend. Oh was I dissapointed when he couldn't load the credit and shattered my...
Ttihen this morning that will be yesterday cos tis 3:00am here, I got a "INBOX full" message on my fone meanning i got some new SMS. I got another sms shortly and my hope in the globacom/cell c partnership was renewed.
But all attempt to load the cell c recharge PIN I bought earlier failed but yes I could chkmy account balance and also load credit from glo Nigeria.
The Guy at Woolworth eventually suceeded in putting a call through to a local number and none to a NIgerian number so he suggested I call glo to roam number-me ke!!!

Eventually bougth a cell c simpack and was able to send smses' home and got several calls.

wish i could save this somewhere as draft and fine tune it later cos am very sleepy.
